FAQ

General

Q: What if I don't have my own instrument?
A: We can lend you one. We have a no-cost instrument loan program for basses, guitars and keyboards. Rock Camp has plenty of drum sets, amps, cords and DJ records you can use while you are here, but these do not typically get checked out. Our supply of equipment is limited. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own equipment and accessories if you have them. We can also refer you to some rental shops and music stores around town.

Rock Camp Studio (Summer program)

Q: If I was/am an intern at GRI or Summer Camp, can I still attend Rock Camp Studio?
A: Yes!

Q: What's the difference between Rock Camp Studio and Summer Camp?
A: Rock Camp Studio is a great stepping stone for Campers who have participated in our programs for a while, and are still too young to intern.  Campers are typically age 13+ and are usually familiar with at least one instrument.  The entire Camp week is much smaller, with fewer girls working on a variety of music and recording projects all week.

Q: What do you learn at Rock Camp Studio?

A: This program is designed to prepare you as a musician for performances and recoding, even if you don't strive to become a sound engineer.  Learn how to record bands using methods ranging from 2 track analog to multi track, computer based Cubase, Studio 1, and/or Garage Band.

Classes are smaller and more advanced, band practice is longer and more self-directed, workshops are either advanced or totally new, and you will get a recording of all the rad camper band songs, including yours, at the end of the week.

Q: Can I sign up for Rock Camp Studio and still come to Summer Camp?
A: Yes!

Q: Is there still a Showcase?
A: No.

Q: How much is it?
A: Tuition is $400 per camper.

Q: Do you offer financial aid?
A: Yes. Please download, fill out, and send in our financial aid application. We make every attempt to accomodate everyone regardless of ability to pay.

Q: Is Rock Camp Studio going to be as fun as regular Summer Camp?
A: YES! You'll probably recognize many of the girls attending, and everyone there is more than familiar with the Rock Camp way of life. Some of you will have attended over 5 sessions of Rock Camp! This is your chance to take what you know from your experience at Rock Camp and really rule the school.
